Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC)
The Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, aims at improving the research ecosystem of India’s higher educational institutions by facilitating academic and research collaborations between top ranked Indian Institutions and globally ranked Foreign Institutions from 28 selected nations, through Joint Research Projects involving mobility of students and faculty. The SPARC Scheme is expected to have a major impact in providing the best international expertise to address major national problems, expose Indian academicians to the best collaborators abroad, enable international faculty to stay in India for a longer duration, provide Indian students an opportunity to work in the world class laboratories, to develop strong bilateral relationships in research, and improve the international ranking of Indian Institutions. The scheme proposes to enable productive academic co-operation by supporting the following critical components that can catalyze impact making research, namely.
Overview of the Programme
This workshop is designed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge and practical experience in the most advanced techniques and tools in drug design and computational biology. Participants will gain insights into the integration of computational methods with experimental data, enhancing the efficiency of drug discovery and development.
Key components of the workshop include:
An introduction to molecular docking tools such as AutoDock, AMDOCK, and CBDOCK. Practical exercises in docking small molecules into protein targets. Protein-protein docking using ClusPro and Rosetta Server. Fundamentals of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with NAMD and GROMACS, including the analysis of MD simulation results. The role of bioinformatics in deciphering disease mechanisms. Systems biology approaches to drug discovery.

About Department of Chemistry, JMI
The Department of Chemistry at Jamia Millia Islamia is a prominent part of the Faculty of Sciences. It offers undergraduate (B.Sc. Hons.), postgraduate (M.Sc.), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs with specializations in Inorganic, Organic, Physical, and Materials Chemistry. The Department comprises highly competent faculty members, including seven Professors, five Associate Professors, and eight Assistant Professors. Each faculty member is actively engaged in research and has published more than 400 research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals over the last five years.
The department is well equipped with analytical instrument facility which has elemental analyzer, thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), fluorescence spectrophotometer, UV-vis and FTIR spectrophotometer, and other instruments. Department has received research funding of 2.4 crore during the last three years from National and International funding agencies like ICMR, DBT, DST, SERB, etc. The department provides excellent research facilities and encourages collaboration with other research institutions..
